The City of Farmers Branch is a partner with Texas A&M University in its Earth-Kind Rose research. Gussie Field Watterworth Park was the site of the former National Earth-Kind Trial Garden and continues to be a site for trials and education. The rose gardens in this park are free and open to the public to explore and enjoy.

The A.R.T.S.® trial is one of several rose trials being conducted on the grounds. There are currently over 600 different roses being grown, preserved or trialed within the Rose Gardens of Farmers Branch. In addition, there is a daylily display garden. Interspersed are play grounds, tennis courts, butterfly gardens, picnic areas and a place to sit and ponder life while watching the birds.
